Junk Food Guy

We crave something that rewards us. We crave something that makes us feel great. We crave something that satisfies us whether it’s a want or a need. In this case, it’s a want for me. Anything in life can be viewed as rewarding, so I always viewed fast food as a type of reward. The dopamine in the brain is fired off as a result of being exposed to foods such as pizza, burgers and fries. I can relate to foods like these. They don’t have to be just fast food though. They can be foods like chips, cookies, pop-tarts etc. I happen to be a junk food guy, and I like it. But the thing is, do I like it for the wrong reason? In other words, is this “reward” a curse in disguise? I would hate to assume so even though I do understand that it’s all unhealthy unless there are “some” nutrients involved in junk food. But junk food has been a craving for me since the 90’s, so I have been in this position millions of times before up to this very present moment. I go to places like Target and In-N-Out to buy food, and I understand that this is food that I don’t need, but deep down, I cannot help myself at times. These foods that I consume are just simple foods that companies and corporations have created for people like to enjoy and to feel excited and exhilarated in order to prevent boredom and dryness amongst society. So I happen to be one of those people who buys food that is junky, but it’s not to say that I’ve never eaten healthier foods like grapes for example.

Eating fatty foods is like an addiction, and it is also like a habit too. It becomes a standard routine type of activity. Back then, I was told as a child to eat more healthier foods, but as a grown man, my options have broadened. I now have the freedom of choice. The choice is mines, whether it comes at a cost or not. I could’ve saved and/or spent money easily on other items without ever buying fatty foods. But sometimes we crave certain foods that we just so happen to like. Certain meals have inspired us to where we have a type of connection with it. They taste good, but they’re not good for us. I notice at times that people like to say that fast food, chips, cookies and so on is a very “slow poison” to the body. Maybe in a very tiny way, because just by eating foods with too much grease in it can affect your arteries or heart for example. I could have a somewhat big belly, and then I start to see the clear result of my craving behavior and what it has done to me. More weight put on, and more drowsiness as a result of junk food consumption. We like to eat foods other than strictly healthy foods because we may view healthy foods as boring and basic. So we want to eat something with the intent of arousing the taste buds and the reward system in our heads. We can also eat healthy foods to make us feel good too. Yes, they do happen with me. I like junk food, but still, being the mature man that I am, my intake on junk food must be controlled to some degree.
